Habagat to trigger rains across Occidental Mindoro, parts of Luzon

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat is set to dump rain across Luzon within the next 24 hours, according to state weather media PAGASA on Wednesday afternoon.

In its 4:00 pm weather bulletin, PAGASA said Occidental Mindoro will experience monsoon rains. Residents in the province are warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to the expected heavy downpour.

Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, rest of MIMAROPA, Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Catanduanes, Aklan, and Antique will also experience occasional rains due to the Southwest Monsoon.

These areas may also experience possible flooding and landslides.

Meanwhile, there will be cloudy skies and scattered rains in the rest of Luzon, the rest of Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Northern Mindanao. If the rain gets heavy, landslides and floods are still possible.

In a separate advisory, PAGASA said that it is currently not monitoring any low pressure areas. The prevailing weather system is the Southwest Monsoon. —Jean Mangaluz/RF, GMA News
