Tropical storm enters PAR, now called 'Queenie'

A tropical storm with international name “Surigae” entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday morning and was assigned the local name “Queenie,” state weather bureau PAGASA said.

In an update around 8 a.m., PAGASA said Queenie entered the PAR around 7 a.m.

“At 7:00 AM today (24 September 2026), Tropical Storm {SURIGAE} has entered the PAR and was assigned the domestic name QUEENIE,” PAGASA said.

PAGASA said it will issue its first Tropical Cyclone Bulletin on Queenie starting at 11 a.m.

“All are advised to monitor updates from DOST-PAGASA,” the agency said. —VAL, GMA News
