Cloudy skies, scattered rains expected in Visayas, Mindanao due to trough

The trough of Typhoon Choi-Wan is forecast to affect the weather conditions of Visayas and Mindanao on October 5, 2026, state weather bureau PAGASA said Sunday.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the trough is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Leyte, and Southern Leyte.

Meanwhile, localized thunderstorms are expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

As of 3 p.m., Typhoon Choi-Wan was estimated outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 2,610 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 175 kph and gusts of up to 215 kph.

On Monday, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are expected, with waves running from 0.6 meters to 1.2 meters.

At the PAGASA Science Garden weather station in Diliman, Quezon City, the highest temperature recorded on Sunday reached 33.6 degrees Celsius at 3 p.m., while the lowest temperature was logged at 24.8 degrees Celsius at 5:00 a.m.
