Red rainfall warning up over Catanduanes, 8 other areas due to Rolly
PAGASA raised the red rainfall warning over Catanduanes and eight other areas on Sunday at 8 a.m. due to Super Typhoon Rolly (international name: Goni).
Here are the areas under red rainfall warning:
- Catanduanes
- Albay
- Camarines Sur
- Sorsogon
- Northern Samar
- Camarines Norte
- Masbate (including Burias and Ticao Island)
- Marinduque
- Romblon
These areas were warned of severe flooding in areas prone to flooding and are near river channels.
PAGASA said landslides may also occur in landslide-prone areas.
The orange rainfall warning meanwhile was raised at 8 a.m. over Oriental Mindoro.
Under the orange rainfall warning, flooding is a threat in low-lying areas and near river channels.
Landslides also pose a threat in areas prone to it.
Meanwhile, the yellow rainfall warning was raised at 8 a.m. over Aklan, Capiz, the northern portion of Iloilo and of Antique.
PAGASA said flooding and landslides may be possible in low-lying areas and mountainous areas.
Residents and disaster risk reduction and management councils were advised to take the necessary precautions, monitor the weather condition, and await the next advisory to be issued at 11 a.m.
Rolly has made a second landfall over Tiwi, Albay on Sunday morning, after its first landfall over Bato, Catanduanes. —KG, GMA News
