Orange rainfall warning up over Southern Leyte, 4 other areas


PAGASA raised the orange rainfall warning at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning over Southern Leyte, Leyte, Biliran Island, Eastern Samar and Samar due to Tropical Depression Vicky.

These areas were warned of flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas.

The yellow rainfall warning meanwhile was raised over Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, Siquijor, Palawan incluging Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro.

PAGASA said flooding and landslides are possible in low-lying and mountainous areas, respectively.

It urged the public and disaster risk reduction and management councils concerned to take the necessary precautions.

Seven areas were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 on Saturday due to Vicky. —KG, GMA News
