Aparri, Cagayan will be under ‘danger level’ heat index on April 22, 2026
Aparri, Cagayan will experience a “danger level” heat index on Wednesday, April 22, PAGASA said in a forecast.
According to the state weather bureau’s 5 p.m. bulletin, the synoptic stations in Aparri, Cagayan would hit a 42°C heat index.
PAGASA categorizes areas with a 42°C to 51°C heat index in the "danger" category, with a risk for heat stroke.
The state weather bureau earlier said the temperature in Metro Manila is expected to rise up to 35°C to 39°C in April and 35.5°C to 37.6°C in May.
It advised the public to take precautionary measures to minimize heat stress and drink lots of water to avoid dehydration.
On March 9, PAGASA declared the end of La Niña, with the country now under El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) conditions.
The agency issues an El Niño Watch when conditions are favorable, with at least a 55% chance of development within the next six months.
