PAGASA: 'Danger level' heat index expected in 7 areas on April 30, 2026
Seven areas in different parts of the country may experience a “danger level” heat index on Thursday, April 30, 2026, the state weather bureau said.
According to PAGASA’s 5 p.m. heat index forecast on Wednesday, the following areas are expected to have a heat index ranging from 42°C to 45°C tomorrow:
43°C
- Sangley Point, Cavite City
- Aborlan, Palawan
42°C
- NAIA, Pasay City
- Dagupan City, Pangasinan
- Cubi Pt. Subic Bay, Olongapo City
- Dumangas, Iloilo
- Guiuan, Eastern Samar
According to a “24 Oras” report, a 44°C heat index was recorded in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; 41°C in NAIA, Pasay City; and 40°C at the Science Garden in Quezon City on Wednesday.
PAGASA said the heat index reflects how hot a human body feels by combining air temperature and relative humidity.
When temperatures are too high, the body struggles to regulate its internal temperature, which can lead to an increase in body heat and strain on vital organs such as the heart and kidneys.
If not addressed, it may result in heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
The public is advised to take precautionary measures to minimize heat stress and drink a lot of water to avoid dehydration. — JMA, GMA News
