Rain forecast for PH due to ITCZ, easterlies, thunderstorms

The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and the easterlies are expected to bring rain over parts of the Philippines on Wednesday, May 20, the state weather bureau PAGASA said.

According to the 24-hour weather forecast issued at 4 p.m. Tuesday, the ITCZ is forecast to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, and Davao Occidental.

The easterlies could cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Oriental.

Meanwhile, localized thunderstorms are expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to heavy rains and thunderstorms.

Winds and coastal waters will be moderate in Extreme Northern Luzon, while the rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.

Sunrise in Metro Manila is expected at 5:27 a.m. on Wednesday. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/VBL, GMA News
