Typhoon Domeng continues northwestward movement over Philippine Sea

Typhoon Domeng continued moving northwestward over the Philippine Sea, according to PAGASA's late Saturday evening bulletin.

As of 10 p.m., Domeng was moving northwestward at 20 km/h, with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h and gusts of up to 150 km/h.

Domeng is expected to enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), which will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas:

Sunday, May 31: Most of the Visayas, Batanes, Cagayan, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, the Bicol Region, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Agusan del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Sarangani, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental.

Monday, June 1: Batanes, the Babuyan Islands, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, the Bicol Region, Panay Island, Negros Occidental, and Northern Samar.

Domeng will reach its peak intensity on Monday while remaining over the Philippine Sea. It is not expected to make landfall in the Philippines as it is forecast to recurve toward Japan.

The typhoon is likely to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday, June 1. — VBL, GMA News
