Habagat rains may hit Southern Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao on June 1—PAGASA
The Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat, is expected to affect Southern Luzon and parts of the Visayas, and Mindanao on Monday, with Typhoon Domeng expected to enhance its winds, PAGASA said in its latest weather bulletin Sunday.
In the 4 p.m. forecast, the state weather bureau said habagat may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, Zambales, and Bataan.
The habagat may also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the rest of Visayas and Mindanao.
The rest of Luzon, meanwhile, is expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms brought by localized thunderstorms.
Affected areas of the habagat and localized thunderstorms may experience possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains, according to PAGASA.
Moderate to strong winds are expected in Northern Luzon, with moderate to rough coastal waters with waves ranging from 1.2 meters to 3.1 meters.
Light to moderate winds are expected in the eastern section of Central Luzon and the rest of the country, with slight to moderate coastal waters with waves ranging from 0.6 meters to 2.1 meters.
At the PAGASA Science Garden weather station in Diliman, Quezon City, the highest temperature recorded on Sunday reached 33.1 degrees Celsius at 2 p.m., while the lowest temperature was logged at 25.6 degrees Celsius at 2:00 a.m.
