Habagat, easterlies to bring cloudy skies, rains on Independence Day 2026
The Southwest Monsoon or the Habagat and the easterlies are forecast to bring cloudy skies, rains, and thunderstorms in different parts of the country on June 12, 2026 as the country marks its 128th day of Philippine Independence, the state weather bureau said.
In its special weather outlook for Independence Day 2026, PAGASA said the two weather systems are expected to affect the country on Friday.
The advisory was released on Wednesday and signed by Juanito Galang, chief of PAGASA’s Weather Division.
“The Southwest Monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur,” the advisory said.
It added that the rest of the Philippines will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possible isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and Zamboanga Peninsula due to the easterlies.
Northern and Central Luzon will have light to moderate southerly to southwesterly winds, while light to moderate easterly to southeasterly winds will prevail over the rest of the archipelago, with slight to moderate seas.
PAGASA said it will update the special weather outlook “if significant changes in the weather pattern occur.” — JMA, GMA News
