Habagat to affect Northern Luzon

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat is forecast to bring rains over the northern portion of Luzon on Thursday, the state weather bureau said Wednesday.

According to PAGASA’s 4 p.m. weather forecast, the Habagat is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Babuyan Islands.

Meanwhile, the frontal system, an area where warm and cold winds meet, may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Batanes.

Localized thunderstorms are forecast to cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods and landslides in the abovementioned areas during heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

The maximum temperature recorded, based on data from the PAGASA Weather Station in Science Garden, Diliman, Quezon City, reached 34.3°C at 1 p.m., while the minimum dropped to 27.4°C at 5:00 a.m.
