Josie weakens into a tropical depression

Josie has weakened into a tropical depression Thursday morning, according to PAGASA's 11 a.m. advisory.

Josie was last spotted 1,070 km East of Southeastern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 55 km/h, and central pressure of 1006 hPa.

No Wind Signals is currently hoisted.

PAGASA also said that Josie is "less likely" to directly affect the weather condition of the country.

However, the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas:

Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro.

"It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the forecast confidence cone," PAGASA said.

"JOSIE will turn northeastward within the next 12 hours. It is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by this afternoon or evening," it added.

PAGASA also said that Josie may weaken into a low pressure area within the next 12 hours. —VAL, GMA News
