LPA to continue bringing rains over parts of Luzon, Western Visayas

The low pressure area (LPA) will continue to bring rains over parts of Luzon before exiting the island group on Thursday, PAGASA said on Wednesday afternoon.

PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said the LPA is expected to move west-northwestward over the next 12 hours and will likely emerge over the West Philippine Sea by Thursday morning.

Estareja said there is also a possibility that the LPA will dissipate before moving away from Luzon.

As of 3 p.m., the LPA was located near Macalelon, Quezon.

Over the next 24 hours, Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, La Union, and Pangasinan will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the LPA.

The rest of Luzon will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

Localized thunderstorms will affect the rest of the country.

Meanwhile, PAGASA is also monitoring another LPA outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

As of 3 p.m., the weather system was located 1,755 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon.

Estareja said the LPA is unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone and is not expected to directly affect any part of the country. —Jean Mangaluz/VBL, GMA News
