PAGASA: Luis weakens into LPA, but heavy rain threatens parts of Luzon

Tropical cyclone Luis has weakened into a low-pressure area in the vicinity of Peñablanca, Cagayan, the weather bureau PAGASA has said.

According to its tropical cyclone bulletin issued at 11 p.m. on Monday, there are no more tropical cyclone signals hoisted in the country.

The LPA formerly Luis was estimated based on all available data in the vicinity of Peñablanca, Cagayan, with a central pressure of 1002 hPa, and moving west-northwestward at 10 km/h.

Due to the LPA, rainfall of 100 mm to 200 mm is expected over La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Tarlac, Zambales, and Bataan from Monday night to Tuesday evening.

PAGASA warned that numerous flooding events are likely, especially in areas that are urbanized, low-lying, or near rivers in those areas. Landslide likely in moderate to highly susceptible areas.

Rainfall of 50 mm to 100 mm are ecIlocos Sur, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, Bulacan, Pampanga, Metro Manila, Cavite, and Batangas

Localized flooding is possible mainly in areas that are urbanized, low-lying, or near rivers. Landslide possible in highly susceptible areas. –NB, GMA News
