2 LPAs being monitored outside PAR — PAGASA
Two Low Pressure Areas (LPAs) are being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), state weather bureau PAGASA said Sunday afternoon.
As of 2 p.m., LPA 08e was estimated at 2,395 km east-northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon and is unlikely to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, during the same period, LPA 08f was located at 1,385 km east of Central Luzon. PAGASA said it has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
Habagat over Luzon, VisayasThe Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat, is expected to drench Luzon and the western section of Visayas on Monday, August 17, 2026, according to PAGASA’s 4 p.m. weather bulletin.
The Habagat is expected to bring occasional rains over Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Norte, Batanes, Cagayan, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Occidental Mindoro.
Meanwhile, in the Visayas and the rest of Luzon, the Habagat is forecast to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters are expected in the northern and western sections of Luzon, with waves running from 1.5 meters to 2.8 meters.
Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are expected in the rest of the country, with waves running from 0.6 meters to 1.8 meters.
At the PAGASA Science Garden weather station in Diliman, Quezon City, the highest temperature recorded on Sunday reached 30.5 degrees Celsius at 11 a.m., while the lowest temperature was logged at 27.3 degrees Celsius at 2 a.m.
