Authorities in Bacolod City in Negros Island Region (NIR) are investigating threats against four schools in the city.

While one of the threats was confirmed to be a prank, the police said every threat to security and the safety of people is considered serious.

“Naga-conduct na tayo ng internal investigation. Hindi natin i-treat ng ordinaryo siya. Continuous ang ating investigation,” said Col. Eugene Rebadomia, Director of the Bacolod City Police Office.

At least three schools in the city shifted to online classes because of a security threat.

One school has cancelled face-to-face classes from July 6 to 10, 2026.

A university and another private school also cancelled face-to-face classes from July 6 to 8.

A high school also announced it has received a threat but classes were not cancelled.

The school that cancelled in-person classes for four days reportedly received a shooting threat.

Sunshine, a parent of a student of the school, learned of the threat in a group chat. The student responsible reportedly wrote the threat on the school’s “freedom wall” online.

“Hindi ko alam kung nagbibiro lang siya, nag-prank. May mensahe kasi na may mangyayari raw na gun shooting sa eskwelahan,” Sunshine said.

“Nag-panic ang mga estudyante. Kami mismo ang nag-request na i-kansela ang klase,” she added.

The school has called the student and the child’s parents to a meeting.

“Na-identify naman ang learner. Prank lang siya sa group. Parang trip lang nila. Sa grupo lang nila. Vinandal nila,” Rebadomia said.
