Three high school students in Iloilo City were caught in the act of using suspected marijuana while another student from another high school was caught with suspected marijuana in his bag.

The fourth student also allegedly sold the suspected marijuana to a student.

A teacher who was going around A. Bonifacio Integrated School was the one who caught the three students - 16, 15, and 14 years old, respectively.

The students have been placed under the custody of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

Col. Wilbert Parilla, Director of the Iloilo City Police Office, said that with the help of social workers, they hope to convince the students to tell them where they got the suspected marijuana.

“Dinadahan-dahan lang natin ito. Maybe in coordination with the social workers, dahan-dahan nating matanong kung saan nila ito nakukuha,” Parilla said.

The A. Bonifacio Integrated School has not issued a statement, as of this writing.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old Grade 10 student, this time of Jaro National High School, was caught with suspected marijuana in his bag during random inspection.

“Particularly for that class, we were surprised na meron palang dala ang bata,” said Melanie Tabaculde, the school principal.

The student reportedly told authorities that he had just sold the suspected marijuana to another student shortly before he got caught.

“May itinuro siya, actually, na bumili that afternoon, just minutes ago lang before namin siya nakita,” Tabaculde said.

Police investigation is ongoing to determine the source of the suspected marijuana.

“We have to check on that. Kasi yung nahuli natin noon doon sa Station 4, kaya natin nahuli yun kasi nag-o-online siya or nagtra-transact online,” Parilla said.

The Iloilo schools division of the Department of Education (DepEd) has yet to issue a statement. Meanwhile, the DepEd regional office is awaiting the report from the PNP on the incidents before it could issue a statement.
