LTFRB inspects bus terminals; Dimple Star bus found to be with worn out tire

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Wednesday inspected bus terminals in Metro Manila in preparation for the expected influx of passengers during Holy Week, according to a report on News To Go by Oscar Oida.

The first bus terminal inspected was that of Dimple Star Transport in Cubao, Quezon City.

A Dimple Star bus fell off a cliff in San Jose, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro on Tuesday evening, killing 19 people on board.

On Wednesday morning, a bus of the said company was about to leave for Romblon when LTFRB officials led by board member Atty. Aileen Lizada arrived for the inspection.

They prevented the said bus from leaving the terminal after it was found to have a worn out tire.

The LTFRB said it is conducting the inspection of bus units to ensure these are in good condition.

It added that Dimple Bus Transport also lacked seats at the terminal for waiting passengers.

The inspection caused inconvenience to bus passengers, who said the inspection should have been done earlier, and not when the bus was just about to leave the terminal.

Atty. Cesar Cainglit, spokesperson of Dimple Star Transport, said they will coordinate with the LTFRB regarding its recommendations.

The LTFRB said it will issue a preventive suspension order on Dimple Bus Transport after the deadly crash in Occidental Mindoro.

Officials of the LTFRB also inspected other bus terminals, among them Superlines in Cubao. —KG, GMA News
