Sinabi ni Vice President at Education Secretary Sara Duterte na hindi obligadong magsuot ng uniporme ang mga mag-aaral sa mga pampublikong eskwelahan sa darating na pasukan.
Inihayag ito ng pangalawang pangulo nitong Lunes, para mabawasan umano sa gastusin sa pasukan ang mga magulang bunga na rin ng tumataas na mga bilihin at mga nawalan ng kabuhayan dahil sa COVID-19 pandemic.
"Even before the pandemic, it is not a strict requirement for public schools to wear uniforms (DepEd Order No. 065, s. 2010) to avoid incurring additional costs to the families of our learners," sabi ni Duterte sa pahayag.
"All the more that it will not be required this school year given the increasing prices and economic losses due to the pandemic," dagdag niya.
Magsisimula ang pasukan para sa school year 2022–2023 sa darating na Agosto 22.
Una nang sinabi ni Duterte na kombinasyon muna ng in-person classes at distance learning ang ipatutupad mula Agosto hanggang Oktubre, bago ipatupad ang five-day face-to-face classes simula sa Nobyembre. —FRJ, GMA News
