Xonara tours around Manila with Xiao Chua
Xonara had a day around town with a special tour guide, and he's none other than historian and professor, Dr. Xiao Chua.
In the latest episode of their vlog series "XNR IRL," Eurekah, Megumi, Namie, Ella, Dominique, Tin, and Lei went on a mini field trip with Xiao. Their first stop was Rizal Park in Manila.
Xiao shared information about Jose Rizal, the park, and its significance while the girls listened attentively and took notes. They also performed TikTok dances and strolled around Luneta.
"So kung titignan natin 'yung as an artist 'to, 'yung ginawa ni both Rizal at ng SB19 at potentially puwede n'yo ring gawin, 'pag pinakinggan niyo lyrics, Pinoy ang situation. Pinoy ang kinakausap," Xiao said.
"So yes, puwede tayong mag-international, pero hindi natin kakalimutan, they stayed true to their culture first. At 'yun 'yung recipe ng success kasi you cannot face the world if you do not know yourself," he added. "So Rizal got into trouble in looking at our identity so that we don't have to be in trouble being Filipino."
Their next stop was the National Library, which most of the members visited for the first time. Xonara enjoyed the interactive parts of the library.
Xiao also shared that the Murillo Velarde at the library was what SB19 used in the music video for "What."
After a tapsilog lunch, the group's final stop was the Tandang Sora Women's History Museum.
Xiao thanked Xonara for choosing him to be their tour guide for the day and hopes they became more interested in Philippine history.
"Ladies, sana alam n'yo ang lakas na nasa kalooban ninyo. Basta huwag na huwag hihiwalay sa puso ng bayan tulad nung mga kababaihan na nakita natin. Sila ang pinagsisilbihan ng ating mga tali. Alam kong mabibigyan n'yo ng saysay ang buhay nila," he said.
Xiao said that he is a fan of Xonara and he reminded them to stay grounded.
"Malaki ang responsibilidad nang may malaking kapangyarihan. Tatagan ang loob at laging tandaan kung sino kayo. Ngayon palang, I am proud of you girls," he said.
The girls then reflected on their tour afterwards.
"Dati walang ganito, wala tayong opportunity na maging malaya," Eurekah said.
Xonara had a grand launch event in Escolta, Manila in May. They are the first girl group of 1Z Entertainment, the company founded by SB19.
They dropped their debut single "Tabi" in the same month.
Before their official debut, Xonara performed at SB19's Wakas at Simula: The Trilogy Finale concert and the Aurora Music Festival.
