At the Golden Screen Awards where he took home two trophies, Dennis Trillo first took a swipe at his viral "bag post" during his acceptance speech before clarifying his stance with reporters at the sidelines of the event.

"Sayang hindi ko dala ang bag ko ngayon," Dennis began his speech clearly pertaining to his now-viral video where he asked his followers "ano ang bag mo?"

In his speech, he gave a shout out to his wife and expressed how proud he is of her.

"Ang aking number 1 supporter, ang aking kaagapay sa buhay, sa bahay, at sa lahat nang kaganapan sa mundo ko. Kay Jennylyn Mercado. Kung proud ka sa akin, mas proud ako sa 'yo," he said.

According to Athena Imperial's report on "Unang Balita" Monday, Dennis spoke with reporters in the sidelines of the event and clarified his actions following the controversy.

"Syempre pamilya ko yon, walang ibang magtatanggol kung yung padre de pamilya di ba," Dennis began.

[Of course that's my family. Nobody will protect them but the father of the family, right?]

"That's the first priority of a father," Dennis continued in Filipino. "Bilang tumatayong tatay ng pamilya, syempre gagawin mo lahat para protektahan sila at all cost," he added.

The awarding ceremony took place on Saturday night, shortly after he reacted to Gelli de Belen aired her opinion on the matter on the GTV program "Chika Cartel."

In a now-deleted post, Dennis said "Nananahimik kami… lahat yan ay natural na reaksyon ng matinong TAO! Pasalamat kayo, dinaan ko nalang sa ganyan. Oo kawawa talaga mga bata, may mga anak din kami! Sisihin mo ‘yung nagsimula ng gulo."

When asked about it, Dennis clarified he wasn't angry at Gelli, or to anyone, explaining it was just "an initial reaction" of a father protecting his family, and one who was avoiding trauma.

"So early on, I was there to block all those and make sure nobody can add to the hurtful words thrown around," Dennis said in Filipino.

Patrick Garcia is his wife Jennylyn's ex with whom she has a son, Alex Jazz. In an interview with Ogie Diaz, he denied leaving Jennylyn during pregnancy.

Immediately after his interview aired, Dennis took to social media to thank Patrick for remembering Jazz.

He also uploaded a video of himself showing off a new bag that had the print "not today satan" and asked his followers "ano ang bag mo?"

On Instagram where GMA Network shared a snippet of Patrick's old "Fast Talk" interview where he described himself as a dedicated father, Dennis left a comment saying "the struggle is real."

"Mahilig din akong mag dedicate ng mga kana as a father," he added jokingly. — LA, GMA News
