Miss U Philippines runner-ups join Rabiya Mateo in repacking relief goods for typhoon victims

Newly crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo this week helped repack relief goods for victims of Super Typhoon Rolly, and she wasn’t alone.

Despite the controversy surrounding the pageant, Rabiya was joined by all four beauty queens who made it to the top 5 in the relief effort.

Photos shared on the Frontrow Philippines IG shows Rabiya together with Ysabella Ysmael (1st runner-up), Michele Gumabao (2nd runner-up), Pauline Amelinckx (3rd runner-up), and Billie Hakenson (4th runner-up).

The queens were also seen wearing face masks as they huddled up close to pose for a group photo.

Iloilo candidate Rabiya took home the Miss Universe Philippines crown at the coronation event held in Baguio City last month.

The inaugural pageant turned controversial after Gumabao announced that she left the venue “while the pageant was still ongoing.”

The beauty queen from Quezon City released a statement on social media saying she “knew who won last night pa” and clarified she "can handle defeat” but not  "people asking why why why."

Miss Taguig Sandra Lemonon also posted cryptic IG stories about certain queens, and announced she will be announcing “big news” the following day.

Hakenson, on the other hand, has expressed her support for Rabiya amid the controversy.

"I assure you that your ates (a.k.a. Queen's court) will protect you and help you as best as we can throughout your journey. You are my Queen, we are your court," the Cavite bet wrote in an IG post.
