Gearing up for the Steam Machine? 7 Steam games players are eager to revisit

The hype is real! Excitement ripped across social media after Valve launched the Steam Machine on Tuesday.

Expensive it may be — it's $1,040 (approximately P64,000) for the 512GB variant, and $1,349 (approximately P82,000) for the 2TB variant — gamers quickly signed up for reservations.

Players sounded off online on the first games they want to play once they get their hands on the new console-slash-PC, and here are the top answers:

Assassin's Creed series

"Assassin's Creed" has taken players to many unforgettable places: the Italian Renaissance in Florence, the golden age of piracy at the Carribean, and the Peloponnesian War in Greece, to name a few. It's no surprise that they want to parkour around cities and civilizations in 4k quality.

The "Assassin's Creed" games often follows an assassin protagonist as he explores and does missions amid the conflict between the order of Assassins and the Knights Templar.

The latest installment, "Assassin's Creed: Shadows" (2025), is set in feudal Japan.

Baldur's Gate 3

No excuse is needed to do another run "Baldur's Gate 3."

Hailed Game of the year in 2023, "Baldur's Gate 3" is a massive game that takes players on an adventure across the Forgotten Realms — from the Sword Coast to the Underdark to the Shadow-Cursed Lands, and finally, Baldur's Gate.

The Dungeons & Dragons-inspired story follows Tav, Astarion, Shadowheart, Gale, Lae'zel, Wyll, and Karlach as they fight against the control of the Netherbrain.

Cyberpunk 2077

Imagine Night City on a bigger screen!

Many gamers can't wait to relive V's desperate race for survival in the violent streets of the corporation-run metropolis. Heart-wrenching the story may be, the game boasts of beautiful graphics and fun gameplay. Players can zoom down the streets on a Porche and go head to head with gangs and crime organizations with a gun.

"Cyberpunk 2077" was released in 2020 but has since received multiple updates and expansions.

Elden Ring

It there's a game perfect for bigger screens, it's "Elden Ring."

With its breathtaking visuals and immersive fantasy world, the game has long since amazed players. No surprise there — it is directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, and the worldbuilding is notably provided by "Game of Thrones" author George R. R. Martin.

The open world game is set in the realm called The Lands Between. It follows the protagonist in their journey in repairing the Elden Ring and becoming the Elden Lord.

Monster Hunter Wilds

There's a debate on whether "Monster Hunter Wilds" is the best or the worst game in the franchise, and it seems players who have been waiting to play the game will just have to see for themselves.

Visually speaking, there's no doubt that the latest installation in the well-loved series is superior to its predecessors. The game takes players to the uncharted region called Forbidden Lands, which has everything from rich forests and icy cliffs to harsh deserts and intriguing ruins.

And hey, if "Monster Hunter Wilds" doesn't do it for you, you can always do another run of "Monster Hunter World" and see how it would run on the brand new Steam Machine!

The Steam Machine is now available for reservation via sign ups on the Steam website.

Aside from the Steam Machine, Valve is coming out with other Steam Hardware such as the Steam Controller and the Steam Frame. —GMA News
