6-year-old boy finds hobby in monitoring the weather
Prince Paul Guevarra may only be six years old, but he already has a passion for monitoring the weather.
On Sunday’s “24 Oras Weekend” episode, Prince’s parents said his fascination with the weather began when he was just three years old.
Since then, he has closely followed weather updates and used weather-forecast visualization tools to monitor storm movement.
“I need to show everyone the super typhoon because I’m going to warn them,” Prince said.
His mom told "24 Oras Weekend" that come rainy season, he would diligently tell her "there's a typhoon coming."
"Every time may typhoon or tropical depression, naka-abang 'yan sa 'kin, [sasabihin] kung san papunta yung typhoon kasi nga, alam niya babahain kami," Prince's dad adds.
His dedication has also caught the attention of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
“Mas kailangan natin ang mga kabataan na maging involve pa dito sa science of meteorology, science of hydrology,” PAGASA weather specialist Jofren Habaluyas said.
“Nakakatuwa na bata pa lang ay ganoon na ang kaniyang motivation,” he added.
Speaking of weather, PAGASA has forecasted a rainy Monday across Metro Manila and parts of Luzon as the southwest monsoon, locally known as Habagat, continues to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms. — Hermes Joy Tunac/LA, GMA News
