Kennedy Jhon Gasper thankful to Miss Cameroon for trusting him with her national costume
Kennedy Jhon Gasper expressed his gratitude to Miss Universe Cameroon Angèle Kossinda for trusting him with designing her national costume.
The 20-year-old student from Central Luzon State University created a lion-themed outfit which the African beauty queen showcased at the Miss Universe national costume competition on Friday.
In Cata Tibayan's report on "24 Oras," Kennedy still could not believe that his creation graced the Miss Universe runway.
"Ang bata-bata ko pa po, hindi pa po ako masyadong magaling. Konti pa po 'yung experience ko sa fashion designing, nag-aaral palang po ako," he said.
("I am so young, I'm not that skilled yet. I don't have a lot of experience in fashion designing, I'm still studying.")
"Napaka-thankful ko po kay Miss Cameroon, kay Miss Angèle Kossinda, na ako po 'yung pinili niya sa dinami-dami po ng magagaling na designer," he added.
("I'm so thankful to Miss Cameroon, to Miss Angèle Kossinda, for choosing me over many other good designers.")
Kennedy is among several Filipino designers whose creations were worn by the stunning Miss Universe candidates.
Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo's national costume was designed by the late Rocky Gathercole and she will also wear the creations of Furne Amato.
Miss Universe Canada Nova Stevens, meanwhile, announced that Michael Cinco will be her official gown designer for the pageant.
Miss Universe Singapore also revealed that her "Stop Asian Hate" statement costume was created by Filipino designer Arwin Meriales and hand-painted by Paulo Espinosa.
Miss Universe Belize Iris Salguero's costume was also made by Pinoy designer and pageant enthusiast Jian Lasala.
