Tootsy Angara accompanies Sen. Sonny at Senate opening session in cheery green Balintawak number
Tootsy Angara accompanied her husband, Senator Sonny Angara, at the Senate opening session on Monday wearing a cheery green Balintawak number by Filipino designer Leslie Mobo.
On Instagram, Tootsy posted a photo with her husband and said she was "happily wearing pastels for the first time in a long time."
"Thrilled to be in your modern classic floral 'balintawak," she wrote, thanking Lesley.
The balintawak is a kind of terno best worn during daytime or summertime. Its more casual nature is evidenced in the fabric, pattern, and even color used — as shown in Tootsy's OOTD.
Lawmakers came in their Filipiniana best for the opening ceremony of the Second Regular Session of the 19th Congress at the Senate.
Senator Risa Hontiveros paid tribute to Filipino weavers with her outfit, while Senator Imee Marcos donned a purple outfit with butterfly sleeves. Senator Robin Padilla went for a Barong that he purchased for less than P7,000.
Like Tootsy, Heart Evangelista accompanied her husband, Senator Chiz Escudero, in a classy white jumpsuit that had butterfly sleeves.
The opening session takes place ahead of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s second State of the Nation Address.
Marcos last week said his SONA will be “really very simple” and would be a “performance report” for Filipinos to see which of his pronouncements have been realized.
SONA 2023 will open with classical opera singer Lara Maigue singing the Lupang Hinirang.
