Classmates mourn high school student killed by wayward jeep in Makati

The classmates of Jules Villapando, the student killed in the Makati jeepney mishap, couldn't help their tears at his wake.

Villapando was killed when a wayward jeep hit a group of students crossing a pedestrian lane on Wednesday in Makati. Several others were hurt.

"Pinaka mami-miss ko po kay Jules 'yung pagiging makulit niya po. 'Yung pangaasar niya po sa amin tuwing may bondings po kami," Justin Mark Tungol, Villapando's friend, said in Ivan Mayrina's Friday report on 24 Oras.

Villapando's parents, meanwhile, vowed justice for their son.

"Kung ano 'yung hustisyang dapat sa kanya, 'yun ang gagawin namin. Hindi namin ipagpapalit sa pera 'yung anak namin," Rene, Villapando's father, said.

The driver, Crisalde Tamparong, has tested positive for drug use.

In a confrontation with the Makati Police, Tamparong admitted that he has used shabu.

Tamparong has already been charged with Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Homicide and Multiple Physical Injuries.

Authorities will also file charges against him for violating the 'Anti Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013.'

The jeep operator may also face liability because Tamparong had no license to drive because of another driving accident late last year.

The operator has indicated willingness to take responsibility and has started taking care of those who were injured. —NB, GMA News
