2 hospitals to conduct catch-up COVID-19 vaccination for seniors —DOH

The Metro Manila Center for Health Development and the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital will conduct catch-up vaccinations for senior citizens against COVID-19, the Department of Health (DOH) said Monday.

In a media briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stressed the importance of vaccinating senior citizens alongside the vaccination of the general adult population and the pediatric vaccination.

“Ang atin pong mga lolo o lola na nasa edad 60 pataas ay kabilang sa ating high-risk population na maaring tamaan ng ating severe or critical na COVID-19,” Vergeire said.

(Our grandparents aged 60 and above are included in the high-risk population which may get infected with severe or critical COVID-19.)

“These COVID-19 vaccines approved for use in the country are effective in preventing severe and critical infections which results in hospitalization and deaths,” she added.

Vergeire said senior citizens may go to the mentioned facilities every Tuesday and Thursday.

The DOH has also given the go signal for booster and additional shots of COVID-19 vaccines for healthcare workers and the elderly within the year.

Meanwhile, Vergeire reminded the public to follow health protocols against COVID-19.

“Bagamat nakikita na natin ang pagbaba ng kaso ngayon nationally… mariin po naming pinapaalala na hindi pa po ito panahon para maging kampante tayo,” she said.

(As we see a decrease in cases nationally, we remind the public that this is not the time to be complacent.)
