Baus Rufo fully supports Joy Barcoma's decision to leave 'Dogshow Divas'

Baus Rufo is fully supportive of Joy Barcoma’s decision to leave as guest-host "Dogshow Divas," the podcast founded by Baus and Macoy Dubs.

In an interview with GMA News Online during the media conference for the upcoming talk show “Kalurks,” Baus shared that Joy’s departure is something the group respects and supports.

“Her decision is something we fully support, definitely,” he said.

For Baus, Joy’s decision carried an important reminder about prioritizing one’s well-being and mental health.

“I think in true Joy Barcoma fashion, she really teaches us a lot of things. Number one, self-well-being. That is the act of self-love, actually, that well-being and mental health [are] very important,” he said.

He also highlighted Joy’s message about choosing kindness, especially amid intense conversations and comments that often come with being in the public eye.

"But also, I think her message basically said that we still need to be kind, right? Sometimes we get lost in the comments, we're too passionate about things, so that is something that definitely I hold very deeply," Baus added in a mix of Filipino and English.

Despite Joy’s departure from "Dogshow Divas," Baus said they continue to see each other regularly through their other projects and commitments.

“So, as mentioned earlier, we’re still on ‘The People Have Spoken’ and ‘Unang Hirit,’ we have a brand event this Sunday, so we’re actually still together quite often,” he said.

Baus also talked about Macoy's absence from "Dogshow Divas" in its past several episodes. Macoy had returned to the show's latest episode on August 29; before this, he last appeared in the July 26 episode.

According to Baus, Macoy had already been vocal about his other commitments, as he has been filming an upcoming project for the past few months.

"Actually, if you listen to the podcast, we have been very vocal about it. So I think we already know the teleserye; it's a very demanding job," he explained.

Despite changes to the podcast's lineup, Baus maintained that “Dogshow Divas” will continue with an exciting guest coming in the next episode.

Earlier this week, Joy announced that she is stepping away from guest-hosting the “Dogshow Divas” podcast.

On Facebook, the Miss Earth Philippines 2025 titleholder said she was aware of the comments about her guest appearances, though she did not provide further context.

“I’ve always been grateful whenever I’m invited to join podcasts when my schedule allows, but how often I appear isn’t something I personally control,” she said.

“[I’m grateful] to everyone who supported us, but for now, I’m choosing to protect my peace,” she added. “All the best to Dogshow Divas!”

Following Joy's announcement, "Dogshow Divas" issued a statement expressing gratitude toward her for being part of the podcast.

“We will never condone or tolerate hate in any form,” it added. “Your peace and well-being should always be protected.”

The podcast also expressed its full support for Joy and her future endeavors.

"Dogshow Divas" is a podcast where Baus and Macoy discuss a variety of topics like Filipino culture, work, showbiz, fashion, social issues, and more.

Baus is a comedian and a host. He is a co-founder of the production company Bekenemen, which holds drag watch parties, while Macoy is a content creator who rose to fame with his skits of the character Auntie Julie.

Meanwhile, Joy finished in the Top 8 of Miss Earth 2025.

Baus is set to host the upcoming talkshow “Kalurks!” with Ashley Rivera and DJ Jhai Ho. It premieres September 13 on GTV.
