Candy Pangilinan comments on the Patrick Garcia-Jennylyn Mercado issue
The Patrick Garcia - Jennylyn Mercado issue continues to be the hot topic of conversation, nearly a week since Patrick's controversial interview with Ogie Diaz, with several celebrities weighing in.
On Kalurks Sunday night, Candy Pangilinan gave her opinion, saying things could've gone a lot smoother had Patrick simply approached Jennylyn privately.
First bringing up the fact that she's a mother to a neurodivergent child, Candy began in Filipino saying, "To fix everything, before he gave the interview, he probably should've gone to Jennylyn and talked it out quietly, in private."
Candy continued, expressing the idea of Patrick even actually getting to know his son, Jazz, which could've eventually led to reconciliation, with Dennis Trillo, Jennylyn's husband, and their entire family.
"Jazz is a child, a neurodivergent. He will always be a child," Candy pointed out. "He [Patrick] will always have all the chance to be a friend to this child. Give himself a chance to be a friend to this child of his," Candy said.
Candy's opinion comes at the heels of her best friend, Gelli de Belen, airing her thoughts on the matter on "Chika Cart" Saturday.
"Sana wag natin kalimutan na may mga batang [pinag-uusapan], at yun naman sila talaga ang pinaka importante dahil yung mga magulang, mga nakakatanda, nakapag-move on na sila sa mga buhay nila. So sana let's show the young ones what is right, what should be done, and not show them all this bad stuff," Gelli said on the new show.
It prompted Dennis to leave comments on Chika Cart's Instagram post, saying "Nananahimik kami… lahat yan ay natural na reaksyon ng matinong TAO!"
"Pasalamat kayo, dinaan ko nalang sa ganyan. Oo kawawa talaga mga bata, may mga anak din kami! Sisihin mo ‘yung nagsimula ng gulo," Dennis added.
His comments have seen been deleted.
In his tell-all interview, Patrick denied leaving Jennylyn Mercado while she was pregnant with Jazz, and admitted he last saw his son in 2017.
Jennylyn refused to comment on the matter, but Dennis took to social media to thank Patrick for "remembering Jazz."
Meanwhile, Jennylyn's manager, Becky Aguila slammed Patrick for giving the interview, in part saying "On top of all your shortcomings with Jen, especially when it comes to Jazz, you still chose to be interviewed to protect your daughter from bashers at the expense of Jen and Jazz. You seem to have forgotten that she is the mother of your child."
Patrick's wife, Nikka Garcia, stood by the actor, saying she "won in this life" because she "fell in love with a good man."
