Christopher de Leon recovers from COVID-19

Christopher de Leon has tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) three weeks after being discharged from the hospital.

His wife Sandy Andolong announced the news on her Instagram story on Tuesday.

The post showed the actor's COVID-19 test results from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).

"At last the long wait is over! All praise and glory to God!" Sandy wrote. She highlighted the result which read, "SARS-CoV-2 (causative agent of COVID-19) viral RNA not detected."

De Leon was the first celebrity in the Philippines to announce that he tested positive for COVID-19 on March 17.

On March 25, the actor was discharged from the hospital and was welcomed home by his wife Sandy Andolong. However, he was required to go on self-isolation.

Just recently, GMANetwork.com acquired a video of de Leon thanking frontliners from The Medical City.

Other local celebrities who tested positive with COVID-19 include Iza Calzado, Sylvia Sanchez and her husband Art.

Iza's manager on March 30 announced that she is free from COVID-19. --Jannielyn Bigtas/MGP, GMA News
