Rufa Mae Quinto admits missing acting, career in the Philippines

Rufa Mae Quinto definitely made her mark in Philippine show business, and now that she’s in the US, she admits to missing what she used to do.

In an episode of “Tunay na Buhay,” the comedienne admitted to having a hard time accepting her new reality of staying at home and caring for her family.

“Tuwing nakikita ko yung mga artista, sasabihin ko sa sarili ko, tuwing naghuhugas akong plato, ‘after everything I’ve done, sumikat ako sa Philippines, ito lang ba ang bagsak ko?’”

“Hirap na hirap ako nung una," she added. "Umiiyak-iyak pa ako. End of the world na para sa akin nung una ko dito."

Along with her daughter, Rufa flew to the US in February 2020 for a two-week vacation to visit her husband Trevor Magallanes, only to get caught up in COVID-19 restrictions that they both ended up staying there.

A year later, Rufa Mae has finally adjusted.

“Sabi ko mas mabuti na rin ‘to dahil nakikita ng anak ko yung tunay na buhay,” she said.

According to Rufa, she is now in-charge of their whole household and so she does all the chores which include cooking and cleaning.

“Ako lahat kaya wala ka na talagang time para sa kung anu-ano,” she said. “Kung hindi importante o trabaho, hindi na [ako] dapat lumabas kasi mag-fall down yung bahay.”

Being away from showbiz doesn't mean Rufa Mae's time in the spotlight is over. The actress recently wowed everyone when she graced the cover of a United States-based magazine’s special issue where she was described as “synonymous with excellence.”

She still plans to return to the Philippines before the year ends, though, to fix some of her things and assets that she has left behind.
