Dingdong Dantes on entering politics: 'It's not for me to say but the circumstance'

Friday's episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" is the first season's finale, and to circle back to the show's pilot episode, which featured Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes appeared as guest.

Among the many questions Boy Abunda asked the Kapuso Primetime King was about the persistent rumors on a possible political career.

Dingdong admitted there was a time he considered running for office.

"Gusto kong aminin na may panahon that I really thought, na sana, [I could] do more for the Filipino people, over and beyond my work here in the industry," he said.

It never did reach the decisive point "because I have high regards for public office."

"Pag sinabing public service, yun dapat yung top-most priority. Hindi siya madali. It's not that easy. It will require much of your time, much of your energy, much of your love and passion. It takes much sacrifice," Dingdong continued.

At the moment, he is busy with the multiple roles he needs to fulfill. "I wanna be the best father to my children, the best husband to Marian, a good son, a responsible member of this beautiful industry, while striving to be a good citizen of this country each and every day," he said.

"Lahat tayo may kanya-kanyang papel sa lipunan and I remain committed in doing my part," Dingdong said.

When the King of Talk asked if he's not closing his doors on politics, the actor said
"It's not for me to say, but the circumstance."

During the show, Dingdong talked about his family, the way he and Marian runs their household, and offered clarification on Marian's viral "naka pre-paid ka lang" anecdote. — LA, GMA Integrated News
