Dingdong Dantes is the cover star of Esquire Philippines' June issue

Dingdong Dantes is the cover star of Esquire Philippines' June issue.

In a joint post with the Kapuso actor on Instagram, the magazine shared its cover image of Dingdong looking comfortable on his motorcycle. Esquire called him the "modern Filipino gentleman."

Dingdong spoke at length about fatherhood in the cover interview; about how it's help changed his perspective, about how he now considers his children when picking out his roles, being named after his father, and naming his son Sixto after him.

"Four generations na ng Sixto. Mula pa sa lolo ko," Dingdong explained.

"More than passing on the name, I think it's also the family values that we are passing on through generations. And naging very, very influential siya. Hanggang ngayon, very influential talaga sa akin ang tatay ko dahil siya ang nag-instill din ng mga ganitong disiplina, ng ganitong value sa akin bilang tao," he tells Esquire writer Zack Yonzon.

In the interview Dingdong also talked about his new show, "The Master Cutter," how his experience as a Philippine reservist helped prepare him for it, his favorite episodes, and managed to spotlight the entire team.

"The hard work that has been put in, talaga, is so extreme na hindi lang nanggagaling sa isang tao. Maraming tao talaga nagtatrabaho d’yan. At kapag maganda ang teamwork ng isang proyekto, mas nararamdaman mo siya. Mas nakikita mo ‘yung resulta. So, ‘yung tatlong ‘yun ang pinaka-natututunan ko. At hanggang ngayon, na-apply ko talaga sa lahat ng ginagawa ko," he said.

On "The Master Cutter," Dingdong plays Atoy, a soldier who grew up in his father's tailoring shop. He takes up the mantle himself after retiring from service, becoming the titular master cutter.

Atoy secretly becomes a tracker-for-hire while working as a tailor, helping others find lost things or people. He's just like his namesake, St. Anthony of Padua.

"The Master Cutter" premiered on GMA Prime in May 8 and consistently brings in the numbers on TV, in social media, and on Netflix, where it also streams.

Apart from Dingdong, the series also stars Max Collins, Sienna Stevens, Shuvee Etrata, Charlie Fleming, and more.

“The Master Cutter” airs weeknights on GMA Prime at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras."
