5 times Baus Rufo dogshowed his way through his 'Unang Hirit' guest hosting stint

From a viral slip-up to fish trivia and unexpected street interviews, Baus Rufo has been making his “Unang Hirit” appearances memorable with his signature humor.

The content creator and “Dogshow Divas” podcast host may have started his morning show stint with an on-air mistake, but he quickly turned it into a running joke, proving he knows how to laugh at himself and keep the good vibes going.

Here are some moments when Baus brought his “dogshow” energy to “Unang Hirit.”

1. When he accidentally greeted Kapuso viewers as ‘Kapamilya’

Baus’ first live appearance on “Unang Hirit” became an instantly memorable moment after he accidentally said “Mga Kapamilya” instead of “Mga Kapuso.”

Realizing his mistake, the content creator immediately corrected himself and explained that it was his first time hosting on a live morning broadcast.

Instead of getting embarrassed, Baus turned the moment into a joke on social media, saying his guesting has become his “first and last episode.”

“Salamat Unang Hirit,” he wrote. “Willing po ako to work overtime without pay at mag choreograph ng Christmas party number for free.”

Fortunately, the fumble did not cost him his spot, as he later shared a message from the show inviting him back for another hosting day.

2. When he made sure everyone knew he already mastered ‘Kapuso’

For his return to “Unang Hirit,” Baus came prepared and made sure there was no repeat of the previous day’s greeting.

“Hello po, mga Kapuso,” he confidently said during his second day on the show, even jokingly repeating it with several “sure na sure” lines.

Behind him was a huge LED display that read “Hello po, mga Kapuso,” which Baus playfully called his “biggest teleprompter.”

He even joked, “Tumama na ang hirit.”

Throughout the episode, Baus appeared to make extra effort to say “Kapuso” as many times as possible, reportedly more than 30 times.

3. When he impressed his ‘crush’ with his fish knowledge

On his third day hosting, Baus showed off a different kind of “expertise” while doing a segment at a wet market.

In a clip he shared online, he confidently named different kinds of fish available, including tamban, galunggong, lapu-lapu, tanigue, talakitok, pampano, and tambakol.

He added his own playful twist to the moment, writing on Facebook:

4. When he and Joy Barcoma turned the Startista Gallery visit into another ‘crush’ post

Baus and Joy Barcoma brought their playful energy to the Startista Gallery in Star City, finding a fun way to recreate the gallery's statue display.

Startista Gallery is an exhibition featuring statues of some of the Philippines’ most beloved figures in entertainment, sports, fashion, comedy, and public service, not unlike the famous Madame Tussaud's.

True to Baus’ signature humor, he also turned the moment into another “crush” joke through a playful post. The video showed Baus and Joy committing to their statue-like poses.

5. When a street interview almost became a morning show challenge

During another “Unang Hirit” segment, Baus and Joy interviewed a passerby and learned that she worked as a packer.

Of course, Baus couldn’t resist adding his own joke, asking the passerby, “‘Pag packer po ba, laging nagsasabi ng ‘Pak, ganern’?”

After the interviewee answered the quiz correctly, Baus delivered the punchline: “Pak, ganern! Hanggang doon lang ang puwede kong masabi dahil nasa morning show tayo.”

Then Baus wrote online, “Feeling ko HR ng GMA Network yung nagpadala ng ‘packer’ kanina. Ang tindi pala ng Performance Improvement Plan sa kapuso.”
