Kara David on Vice Ganda at UP CMC graduation rites: 'Napahanga ako'

Kara David took to social media to praise Vice Ganda after witnessing the comedian's speech at the 2026 University of the Philippines College of Media and Communication Recognition Ceremony.

On Facebook, Kara shared a photo with the "It's Showtime" host along with words of admiration for Vice.

“Na-starstruck ako nung makita ko siya,” the Kapuso journalist wrote. “Napahanga ako nung marinig ko siya.”

“Salamat, Meme Vice! Padayon!” she added, as she shared a portion of Vice's keynote speech that reflected on change.

"You are expected to spark change. Change, not chaos. You're expected to share your education, not disinformation,” he said.

In his keynote address, Vice reflected on growing up underprivileged, making a name for himself in the entertainment industry, and becoming an inspiration to the LGBT+ community.

At the heart of his speech was a call to action for the newly graduated batch.

“Saan man kayo daling ng inyong mga paa, much is expected of you because you are the product of the country’s premier university,” Vice said.

Vice also urged UP graduates to always stand on the side of truth.

“Hindi kayo ang magsisimula ng korapsyon. Hindi kayo ang maghahasik ng kasinungalingan. Hindi kayo ang magliligaw at magmamanipula ng opinyon ng publiko. Hindi kayo ang magpapasimuno ng impunidad,” he said.

Kara is the chair of the journalism department at the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication.

In March, she was named one of Cosmopolitan's Women of Influence 2026. She also recently received the Excellence Award in Media and Research Communications at the St. Dominic College of Asia Stardom Awards 2026.

Kara currently hosts the GMA Public Affairs podcast "I-Listen," the award-winning documentary program "I-Witness," and the infotainment show "Pinas Sarap."
