Shirley Kuan denies Bea Alonzo-Vincent Co wedding got cancelled because of her

Shirley Kuan, Bea Alonzo's former manager, denied that the actress' supposed wedding to Vincent Co in Spain got cancelled because of her.

In a press conference livestreamed by PEP.ph on Monday, Kuan addressed speculations that she was against Bea's marriage to the businessman.

"I have receipts. If you want to know, I can prove that I was not involved there," Kuan said in Filipino. "The question is, those who say that I was the one who pushed for it to get cancelled, they need to release receipts."

GMA News Online has reached out to Bea and her interim manager, Chris Cahilig, for their reaction to Kuan's statements in the press conference. They have not responded as of this writing.

Kuan said she was supposed to serve as godmother and her son was also tapped as a reader for the ceremony.

She flew to Los Angeles, California in preparation for traveling to Madrid to avoid the Middle East route because of the Iran war.

On May 8, Kuan said she received a text from Bea's business partner Bea Secosana, asking for a favor. The actress composed a message announcing the wedding in Spain is cancelled and asked if Kuan could send it to her wedding guests.

Kuan read out the text message during the press conference.

"Hi Tita, Bea asked for a favor if you could message her guests and Amanda (wedding coordinator) na din daw po. This is what she wants to say: We sincerely apologize for the sudden notice but unfortunately, the wedding has been cancelled. We understand that many of you made time, effort, and arrangements to celebrate this special day with them, and we are truly sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this may cause. Bea is currently on a flight right now, but she will personally reach out and message everyone as soon as she lands. We kindly ask for your understanding and prayers for her during this difficult time,” the text said.

Kuan said she felt stressed after receiving the message and wanted to talk to Bea, but the actress was on a flight to London.

The manager said she thought about those who already paid for their tickets and knew she needed to send the text right away, but she wondered whether to include her name in the text to be legitimate and credible.

"This is not supposed to be taken as a joke, this is a serious matter," she said. "Us managers, when the artists ask us for help, we are there to help especially in this kind of situation."

Kuan said some guests were able to cancel their trips while some chose not to.

She also said that she did not know about the details and preparations about Bea's wedding.

"Why would I meddle? She hired experts and very good experts. Who am I to meddle? Of course, gosh, that's the bride's privilege. What she wants must be followed," she said.

Kuan said the only time they talked about the wedding was when she asked Bea to send the fabric for her godmother's gown before she was about to leave for California.

She also asked for the wedding invitation from the coordinator for her son to show the airport immigration, but they were unable to provide it.

Regarding Bea's civil wedding to Vincent, Kuan said she did not know about it and she was not present. She only learned that it was true when Bea called her the morning after and confirmed the news.

Bea and Vincent got married in a civil wedding in July.

Their ceremony was officiated by Makati Mayor Nancy Binay and was followed by an intimate reception at Txoko Asador, where the newlyweds enjoyed a minimalist wedding cake.

Bea confirmed her relationship with Vincent in 2025.
