Liza Soberano says 'Forgotten Island' has plenty of Easter eggs for Pinoys

"Forgotten Island" is almost here!

Ahead of the premiere, stars Liza Soberano and H.E.R., as well as directors Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, held a special advance screening in Manila.

In Nelson Canlas' report on "24 Oras" on Tuesday, Liza said the film is very personal to her.

"One of the things that instantly like drew me in to the project, because I'm also a lolo and lola's girl. I grew up with my grandparents, they raised me. And so I was like, that family dynamic is so accurate," the actress said.

Liza added that the film has surprises only Filipinos will understand.

"Almost like every single scene has some sort of like Easter egg where I feel like all Filipinos, when we watch it, we'll be able to identify and be like, 'oh my gosh, they know us. They see us. They care about us,'" Liza said.

For H.E.R., she is excited for her mom's reaction.

"Honestly, she was very emotional but she didn't know what to expect. Literally no idea what to expect, I didn't give it away. She loves surprises. She was like, 'anak, don't tell me, don't tell me,'" the Filipino-American multi-Grammy Award winner said.

"I cannot wait to see her face. I know she's gonna cry," H.E.R. added.

"Forgotten Island" is set to open in cinemas nationwide on September 23.

It follows the journey of two childhood best friends, Raissa (Liza) and Jo (H.E.R.) as they try to find their way home after ending up on a mysterious island.

Aside from Liza and H.E.R., the movie also stars Lea Salonga, Dave Franco, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy, Manny Jacinto, Jenny Slate, and Ronny Chieng.

The soundtrack of "Forgotten Island" includes songs by BINI, SB19, Sophia Laforteza of Katseye, Lea, Liza, H.E.R., and many more. —Nika Roque/MGP, GMA News
