'Together At Home' online benefit show raises nearly $128 million


The massive online benefit show, "One World: Together At Home" raised almost 128 million USD for the World Health Organization's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, Nelson Canlas reported on "24 Oras Weekend." 

 Lady Gaga lead the livestream concert with a soulful performance of Nat King Cole’s “Smile,"and later on joined John Legend, Celine Dion, and Andrea Bocelli in singing "The Prayer."

The concert also featured at-home performances from Paul McCartney, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, The Rolling Stones, and many, many others.

"Today I'm so happy that we are one world, together at home," Lady Gaga, who helped organize the concert, said before her performance.

"I feel very honored to be a part of the World Health Organization and Global Citizen in the fight against COVID-19 and raising money for the Solidarity Response Fund," she added.

Musicians and artists all over the world have been holding online benefit shows for different causes, all related to COVID-19 response.

In the Philippines, Ryan Cayabyab has led a slew of musicians with "Bayanihan Musikahan," a series of online benefit gigs raising funds for vulnerable sectors of society. Lea Salonga's gig alone raised a whopping P1.2M.   

Meanwhile, Gary V. held a two-night gig from his home studio over the weekend. His Saturday show alone raised more than P2M— Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
