Olivia Rodrigo announces new single ‘The Cure’ from upcoming third album

Olivia Rodrigo has announced her new single, 'The Cure,' as part of her upcoming third album, “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.”

On Instagram, the Filipino-American popstar revealed the track’s title, sharing it holds a special place for her.

"It’s my favorite song on the album and one of my favorite songs I’ve ever made," she said, adding how excited she was for her fans to hear it.

“‘The Cure’ comes out this Friday," Olivia said in the caption.

Alongside the announcement, the Grammy-winning artist posted a photo showing herself in a soft pink top while holding up a complex Cat’s Cradle arrangement made of thick red string spelling out the stylized title 'The Cure.'

Ahead of her announcement, walls around Los Angeles—the same ones Olivia previously used to tease her upcoming album and first single 'Drop Dead'—were updated with new lines that appeared to hint at the song.

Messages read: “Why can’t you come stitch me up?” and “It’ll never be the cure.”

Fans have been speculating whether 'The Cure' could be another possible nod to the iconic British band, which Olivia said she admires.

and has performed with alongside frontman Robert Smith.

Her song 'Drop Dead,' the lead single off her forthcoming album, also references The Cure’s 'Just Like Heaven' in its lyrics.

Earlier, Olivia said 'Drop Dead' is “karaokeable if you're sad a little bit.”

'The Cure' is coming out on May 22.

Olivia made her much-awaited music comeback last month with 'Drop Dead,' which made history by marking all three of her album lead singles debuting at No. 1.

She filmed its music video at the Palace of Versailles in France, one of the world’s most restricted and historically significant landmarks.

You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love” will come out on June 12.
