Pacquiao vs. Garcia close to a done deal – report
The prospective showdown between eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao and WBC interim lightweight champion Ryan Garcia is close to a done deal at 147 pounds, a source close to both fighters told Yahoo Sports.
The report came out shortly after Garcia’s promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, stated that there is nothing to talk about since the fight is not going to happen.
But a conflicting report by Yahoo said both fighters have agreed to face each other and are now working on the financing.
Furthermore, contrary to various reports that recently came out, the bout would not be an exhibition according to an Instagram story posted by Garcia himself.
The 22-year-old Garcia (21-0, 18KOs) is coming off his biggest win to date against Luke Campbell last month where he won by way of a seventh-round technical knockout. Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39KOs), meanwhile, has not fought since July 2019 when he defeated Keith Thurman via a split decision.
Earlier, Pacquiao's management firm Paradigm Sports has issued a stern warning against those meddling with the eight-division champion's boxing career, saying "No one outside of Paradigm Sports is involved in any way with the management of Senator Pacquiao's boxing career at this time." — LA, GMA News
