Alex Eala formally opens her Wimbledon run on Tuesday night, testing her mettle against Mexican star Renata Zarazua as the Pinay ace competes in the third Grand Slam of the year.

Eala and Zarazua are scheduled for 8:50 p.m. as both players look to go deeper in the prestigious grass-court event. Eala and Zarazua both saw action in last year’s Wimbledon.

The 21-year-old Eala fell to then 17th-seeded Barbora Krejcikova in the opening round while Zarazua secured an opening-round win over Yanina Wickmayer before losing to Amanda Anisimova.

Eala is now looking to carry all the momentum she got in the previous grass events, including her second career title at the Birmingham Open just weeks ago.

A win here will give Eala the chance to face either legendary tennis player Serena Williams or Williams' first round opponent Maya Joint, who Eala faced in the finals of last year's Eastbourne Open.

Eala was just coming off a doubles run with Serena’s older sister Venus at the Bad Homburg Open.
