Alas Pilipinas Women fall to Indonesia, finish SEA V Cup Leg 1 winless

The Alas Pilipinas Women failed to build from an early momentum to succumb to a 25-20, 19-25, 22-25, 16-25 loss to Indonesia and go home winless at the 2026 SEA V Cup Leg 1 on Sunday in Vietnam.

Alas, which was coming off four straight podium finishes in the tournament, drew first blood by taking Set 1 but ran out of steam, especially in the fourth frame where the Filipinas squandered an early lead en route to a four-set defeat.

The Taka Minowa-mentored crew turned a slim 19-8 lead in Set 1 into a 24-19 cushion when Dell Palomata and Alyssa Solomon connived to deny Ersandrina De Vega. A service error from the Indonesians sealed the opening frame for the Filipinas.

Medi Yoku then took over in the next two sets as Indonesia gained a 2-1 lead.

Solomon sent Alas Women to an early 11-9 lead in Set 4 as the Philippines regained the momentum they needed to force a possible Set 5. However, Indonesia responded with a 9-2 rampage that saw them retake an 18-13 cushion.

Eya Laure sparked a brief Alas rally with a crucial point in a 2-0 run to cut the gap to 15-18, but Indonesia seized control for good with an 8-1 run to end the match, highlighted by back-to-back blocks on Bella Belen.

Alas previously lost to Southeast Asian powerhouses Vietnam and Thailand to finish the first leg without a win.
