Frank Lao elected new PNVF president, Tats Suzara returns as board member

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) elected its new leadership on Monday following the resignation of its previous board members last month.

Frank Lao has been elected as the new president while Atty. Donn Kapunan was chosen as vice president as the PNVF looks to make a fresh start after a tumultuous few months that saw the federation suspended by the FIVB and POC and its funding from the PSC halted.

Rommel Ng was elected treasurer while the board of trustees are now made up of Sienna Olaso, Francis Chad Salimbangon, ⁠Carmela Gamboa, ⁠Otie Camangian, Mohamad Bernan Jr., and Atty. ⁠Jonas Cabochan.

Current Asian Volleyball Confederation president Ramon “Tats” Suzara, who had been ousted as PNVF president and replaced by Tonyboy Liao in November 2025, is returning to the federation as he has been elected as one of the board members.

“This is a ‘committed team’ and I believe they could sustain the progress of volleyball that started when the PNVF was established in 2021,” said Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino.

The election comes before both the Alas Pilipinas Men and Women compete in the Asian Games in September in Japan.
