Facebook snaps up Mac iOS developer Acrylic Software

Social networking giant Facebook has acquired a Vancouver-based developer of apps for Apple Inc.'s OS X and iOS platforms, a tech site reported recently.

 

CNET reported Facebook acquired Acrylic Software, the developer of personalized newspaper app "Pulp" and secure database app "Wallet."

 

But the CNET report said the acquisition appeared to focus more on Acrylic's two employees instead of the apps or their technology, which Facebook did not acquire.

 

It added the two are likely to join Facebook's design team in San Francisco.

 

Acrylic will stop developing its two apps, which will remain available for purchase but will no longer be updated. — TJD, GMA News
