First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos on Monday led a rice distribution drive for 1,200 beneficiaries in Barangay Doña Imelda, Quezon City.

Citing details from Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, the Presidential Communications Office said beneficiaries received 10 kilos of rice worth P550 each under the initiative funded through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).

“Nandito po ako bilang ina kasi alam ko, as a mother, mahalaga na magkaroon ng pagkain sa lamesa natin. Maski na po konting tulong lang ito, I hope it goes a long way — even for just a few days — that we can help you,” Marcos said.

(I'm here as a mother because I know how important it is to have food on the table. Even if this is only a small help, I hope it goes a long way, even if only for a few days.)

The distribution was carried out under the First Lady’s “Mula sa Puso Para sa Pamilya” program, which aims to provide immediate assistance to communities across Metro Manila.

According to the PCO, Belmonte said the Office of the President allocated P462.9 million to the Quezon City government for the rice subsidy program.

The initiative also supports local farmers by allowing the city government to purchase their produce.

The First Lady is expected to lead similar rice distribution activities in other parts of Manila and Quezon City throughout the week:

  • Tuesday, June 23 (Manila): The team will head to District 1 at the Barangay 72 Covered Court along Masinop Street in Tondo, located directly in front of Tondo High School.
  • Wednesday, June 24 (Quezon City): Operations shift to District 1 of Quezon City, specifically at the Barangay Bagong Pagasa Covered Court on Road 9.
  • Thursday, June 25 (Manila): The relief effort returns to Manila, centering on District 3 at the Barangay 377 Covered Court on Pampanga Street, Sta. Cruz (near Aurora Boulevard).
  • Friday, June 26 (Quezon City): The week’s distribution concludes in District 5 at the Novaliches District Center, situated on Moses Street, Jordan Planes Subdivision in Barangay Sta. Monica, Quezon City.
