Alvarez studying Robredo impeach raps seeking endorsement

House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez on Tuesday said he is still looking into the impeachment complaints filed against Vice President Leni Robredo, both of which are seeking his endorsement.

Alvarez confirmed to House reporters that the second complaint has already reached his office, from a group of lawyers who are critical of Robredo online.

However, he did not say whether he will endorse it, or the previous one sent to him by lawyer Oliver Lozano and Mel Chavez, two former senatorial aspirants who are known loyalists of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos.

“Pinag-aaralan nating mabuti ‘yan dahil ayaw ko naman na basta na lang tira tayo nang tira, tapos wala namang substance. So pinag-aaralan pa natin ‘yan,” he said.

Alvarez clarified that he did not say he will certainly file an impeachment complaint against the Vice President.

“Wala naman akong sinabi na magfa-file talaga ako. Ang sabi ko, pag-aaralan ko. Ngayon, kung meron namang substance, bakit hindi, ‘di ba?” he said.

“Kaya nga, kagaya ng sinabi ko noon, if there is substance and it can definitely stand in an impeachment trial, puwedeng i-consider,” he added. —KG, GMA News
