Asian Hospital unable to admit COVID-19 patients, PUIs

The Asian Hospital and Medical Center has announced that it is currently unable to admit confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients or patients under investigation (PUI).

The hospital said it has exceeded full capacity.

"However, Asian Hospital and Medical Center is still open to admit patients with other kinds of sickness and diseases," the hospital said in a public advisory posted on its Facebook page.

Earlier, The Medical City, the Makati Medical Center, St. Luke's Medical Center, and the Chinese General Hospital  announced they have reached or exceeded full capacity for COVID-19 patients.

On the other hand, state-run Philippine General Hospital (PGH) earlier this week accepted the Department of Health's request for it to serve as a referral center for COVID-19 patients.

PGH Director Dr. Gerardo Legaspi said they would serve as a referral center along with the Lung Center of the Philippines, and the Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital.

As of Wednesday, health authorities have recorded 636 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country. Of this number, 38 patients have died and 26 have recovered. —Nicole-Anne C. Lagrimas/LBG, GMA News
