P7.2-trillion National Expenditure Program for 2027 reaches Senate

The Senate on Tuesday formally received a copy of the P7.2 trillion National Expenditure Program (NEP) for fiscal year 2027.

Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian, together with Finance Committee Chairperson Sen. JV Ejercito and Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, received the 2027 NEP in a turnover ceremony at the Senate this afternoon.

The turnover was led by acting Budget Secretary Kim Robert De Leon, Presidential Legislative Liaison Office Secretary Joey Sarte Salceda, and other officials from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

Earlier on Tuesday, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. submitted to Congress the proposed 2027 national budget, saying the spending plan seeks to sustain economic growth while maintaining fiscal discipline.

This came a day after the DBM turned over the NEP to Malacañang.

The proposed budget prioritizes education, healthcare, livelihood, national security, and community empowerment in line with the administration’s theme of “people-centered growth for an inclusive and resilient future." –NB, GMA News
